What is the Nemophila Shuttle Bus?

The Nemophila Shuttle Bus is a free access bus that operates from Ajigaura Station on the Hitachinaka Seaside Railway Minato Line to the seaside entrance of the National Hitachi Seaside Park. It runs annually in conjunction with the blooming season of the nemophila flowers. In 2026, it will operate daily from Saturday, April 11, to Wednesday, May 6.

To get directly to the "Seaside Gate," which is closest to the nemophila at Mihara Hill, you can significantly shorten the walking distance within the spacious park. It takes about 28 minutes on the Minato Line from Katsuta Station to Ajigaura Station, and then a 9-minute bus ride. Including transfers, the total travel time is approximately 40 minutes.

How to Get to Nemophila Without Traffic Jams

During the nemophila season, the National Hitachi Seaside Park experiences heavy traffic on the surrounding roads. It's not uncommon for access by car, including waiting for parking, to take over two hours.

By using the Minato Line and the Nemophila Shuttle Bus, you can completely avoid traffic jams. Simply take the JR Joban Line to Katsuta Station and board the Minato Line from the adjacent platform. The convenient connection between the train and bus is a great advantage, allowing you to plan your time effectively.

Additionally, if you get off at Nakaminato Station on the Minato Line, you can reach the popular spot "Nakaminato Fish Market" in about a 10-minute walk. You can enjoy both the beautiful nemophila flowers and delicious seafood gourmet in one day!
